The 255 kW (347 HP) performance comes from the advanced 3.0 V6 TDI engine. An innovation relates to the turbocharger: An electrically-driven compressor, which is supplied with electricity from the 48-volt main on-board network, supports it especially in the lower rpm range. You can feel the advantages when starting and overtaking as the full torque (maximum 700 Newton metres) is already available just above idling speed. A mild hybrid system contributes to the increased efficiency. If you take your foot off the accelerator at a speed of 55 to 160 km/h, the system recovers energy, stores it in a rechargeable battery and releases it, for example, for a noticeably faster engine start. The result of all these innovations are driving values at sports car level. The Audi SQ5 TDI accelerates from 0 to 100 km/hour in 5.1 seconds.
